Just as Matt was about to pop the question, a rogue wave swept over him and his beloved, drenching them and sending them flying.
The incident happened in December 2012, and the video of the proposal is now going viral.
No sooner has Matt popped the question than a rogue wave arrives on the scene ...
Matt had already sung a song he wrote, then later knelt down to propose to his girlfriend Lis.
It was then the frothy, uninvited guest made its dramatic entrance, washing the lovers to shore.
... and swallows the couple up.
Matt managed to hold onto the ring and once on their feet, the bride-to-be jumped up and responded, "Yes!"
