POLICE are investigating an improvised drug manufacturing site in Champion Lakes after an explosion that left two people with burns.
Emergency services were called to the Lake Road property about 3am today after an explosion ripped through an empty stables in the semi-rural area.
A 48-year-old woman received burns to her stomach and leg and a 32-year-old man received severe burns to his body. Both were taken to hospital.
Three firefighting crews also had to attend a fire about 4.30am today at a kitchen warehouse in Joondalup.
A forming machine at Kitchen Craftsmen on Winton Road caught fire, damaging the machine and causing smoke damage to the building worth $300,000.
No one was injured and it is not considered suspicious.
