THEY'RE known as 'Big Tone and Little Tone'.

Britain's tallest policeman and London's shortest, have made an odd couple as they stand guard at the entrance to the hospital where the Queen is being treated for a stomach bug.

PC Anthony Wallyn - who stands 2.2m (7 feet 2 inches) and PC Tony Thich - who measures 165cm (5 feet 6 inches) have proved an unexpected delight for the press pack camped outside the King Edward VII hospital.

PC Wallyn, whose nicknames include Big Tower, Tiny and Freak, has required a custom-made uniform since joining the force four years ago, The Daily Mirror reports.

The father-of-one, who wears size 17 shoes, said: "I get 100-500 requests for a photo each day.

"It's like being famous but without the money."

He said he'd love the opportunity of a photo with the Queen, who stands a diminutive 164cm (5ft 4).

Buckingham Palace says Queen Elizabeth has gone into the hospital in London with symptoms of gastroenteritis. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

"It would be a nice photo," he joked.
