A PERTH woman faces up to seven years in a Bali jail for stealing her ex-boyfriend's car and emptying his apartment, police in Indonesia said today.

Sandra Cindy Sheed, 42, is being held in Denpasar Jail after confessing to the theft of the car, a bed, and electrical items including a large-screen TV, DVD player and five speakers, said Denpasar Police Commissioner Ambariyadi Wijaya.

Ms Sheed was charged on Sunday after her Australian ex-boyfriend, Stephen Blackwell, returned to his Bali villa from a trip home to find it gutted.

"The victim was just coming back from Australia and he found his car and some electronic items were stolen," he said.

Police said they immediately suspected Ms Sheed when they realised the thief had used a key to steal the belongings.

"The victim and suspect have live together (sic) but now they have split," Commissioner Ambariyadi said.

Among Ms Sheed’s alleged booty was a Toyota Hardtop, the appliances, water dispenser, food warmers and a TV antenna.

Police said they had notified the Australian consulate in Bali.

Bali locals said Ms Sheed sometimes worked as a nightclub promoter and had been visiting the party strip in Denpasar "for years".

"She is a pretty colourful character,” said one nightclub operator who worked with Ms Sheed on launch last December.

Man, 88, and woman, 60, robbed

A SIXTY-year-old woman has fought off a would-be carjacker who was armed with a knife.

The woman had just parked her car on Hobbs Avenue in Como at 4.20 on Saturday afternoon when she was approached by a man who demanded her handbag and her keys.

When she refused, the bandit grabbed her handbag and dragged her to the ground while she hung onto it.

He then tried to steal the woman's car but she pushed him away.

The robber threatened her with a knife before running away.

The woman sustained a grazed elbow during the attack.

A short time later, Police located a 31-year-old man with the woman's bag.

He was charged with aggravated robbery and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

In a separate incident, an 88-year-old man on a gopher was robbed while waiting at a bus stop in Rivervale yesterday afternoon.

The man was approached by a woman asking for money at Kooyong Road, near Gerring Court, about 3:30pm.

When he declined, the woman reached into his pocket and stole cash.

The man held on to the woman who then hit him on the arm.

A witness to the robbery flagged down passing police who arrested the 25-year-old Leederville woman a short time later.

Police recovered the man's money.

The woman has been charged in connection with two other shoplifting incidents and will appear Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

RESIDENTS of a resort town in Zimbabwe are on alert after a rogue lion mauled to death two people.

Reports suggest that the man and his girlfriend, identified as Sharai Mawera, were having sex in a bushy area in Kariba when the lion attacked.

"Unfortunately the woman, who was also known as Mai Desire, was mauled to death by the lion but her boyfriend managed to escape naked and he was only wearing a condom," a source told myzimbabwe.com.

It says the man managed to escape and ran off while the woman was mauled to death.

Many motorists ignored the man, MyZimbabwe reported, because he was running all over the road naked.

An arm and the  remains of a second corpse, believed to be an as-yet-unidentified man, were found by rangers hunting for the lions.

The National Parks and Wildlife Authority said fliers are being handed out in the town and warned people against walking at night and using footpaths through the bush as shortcuts.

Volunteers are using a loudspeaker to caution townspeople on the dangers of lion attacks on the shores of Lake Kariba, a man-made hydroelectric dam popular for fishing and tourism.

A POPULAR toy has been cited in an assault.

Ashley Trimmer allegedly threw a Furby, the Hasbro toys with "a mind of their own", at her partner in a fight, Huffington Post reported.

Police told CBS Pittsburgh that the 27-year-old Pennsylvania woman, from Moon Township, became upset over a Facebook post by her boyfriend William Ley.

A physical fight ensued and Trimmer allegedly struck Ley in the head with a Furby toy and a Sony Playstation controller, cutting one side of his face, The Smoking Gun reported.

Ashley Trimmer was charged by police with a misdemeanor simple assault charge in connection with the fight.

She was released after her mother posted $2000 bail.

In cases of domestic assault that result in injury, officers are required to make an arrest no matter how minor the harm, Moon police Chief Leo McCarthy told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

A FEMALE prison officer has been punched in the face at Hakea remand facility in Perth's southern suburbs, prompting calls from the union for more funding.

The assault occurred on Tuesday, the West Australian Prison Officers' Union said, and her colleague also had blood spat in his face.

There have been more than 20 assaults on WA prison officers in the year to date and about 100 over the past 12 months, the union said.

Secretary John Welch said it was essential that any election pledge that would result in more prisoners was matched with increased funding to keep prisons safe for inmates and officers.

``The state government can support prison officers by providing proper staffing levels at prisons, new prison facilities to deal with chronic overcrowding, and fair pay and conditions that respect the risks prison officers take,'' Mr Welch said.

Tensions are said to be high at Hakea, where young juvenile offenders from the nearby Banksia Hill detention centre were moved in January after taking part in a violent rampage.

After the incident, 73 Banksia Hill detainees were moved to Hakea but the Department of Corrective Services revealed last week that 140 young offenders were now incarcerated there.
